Jason Steele
The Willful Writer
Jason Steele was born in Kankakee, Illinois in 1989, as the youngest of two children. At a young age, Jason displayed a very active imagination when playing with his various action figures. Everything from action films, to video games on the Sega Genesis, to Japanese animation all inspired his mind to explore beyond the norm in his youth. It wasn't until he was exposed to Japanese roleplaying games on the Playstation console that his imagination went to new levels. His fascenation with story was born from the storytelling style of the Japanese fused with the westernized style of action and adventure.
At the age of fourteen, Jason wrote his first short story as a challenge from his mother, to get his very first e-mail address. The story was by no means a masterpiece, but it gave him his first taste of writing at length and putting the thousands of ideas floating in his head into one cohesive project. Jason attended Kankakee High School and graduated in 2007, but his writing skills had been quite dormant during his four year period in school. Some very loose short workings for what would eventually become Apocalyptic Plight were done, including Mileena: Daughter of the Phoenix, and Everlasting Night drafts that went on for one or two chapters. After briefly attending college, Jason decided it was time to give his craft a true chance to blossom. It took some years to focus on one project, but during the time period of 2010, he wrote an 8 chapter draft of his Super Heroine story HaZe. He also took time to do free fan-fiction works for several of his favorite games to further sharpen his skill and build a fanbase.
After many stop-and-go attempts at writing, in 2011 and 2012 he dedicated all of his time into creating and completing Apocalyptic Plight, which to date has been his toughest obstacle in writing. The novel itself was quite the undertaking, as it's draft boasted well over 200,000+ words with several action scenes, deep backstory, and several characters. Many who have read his free works have come to learn Jason's style is very character central and focuses on developing the characters just as much as the plot itself.
If the reception of his first novel will be the same has yet to be seen, but he is extremely confident that this book, which he feels is his greatest effort, will be every ounce of his imagination focused onto a single project. If all the years of video games, toys, and action movies pay off, the world is in for a treat!
